Two people were injured when a truck hit a building in Upper Alton Thursday afternoon at the corner of Washington Avenue and Edwards Street. The vehicle struck the brick building housing Financial Planning Advisors, operated by Jeff Hicks, and the law office of Joseph Hoefert.
The truck apparently sped in reverse into the building, hitting it near the front entrance. The driver was treated at the scene for a minor injury, but the passenger had to be taken to a local hospital after he was apparently thrown from the vehicle during the accident. Witnesses said it appeared the passenger was trying to get into the truck when it accelerated, forcing the man to hang on until it struck the building. No one inside the building was injured.
