The trial of a 29-year-old Alton man who allegedly admitted to molesting two young girls has begun.  Michael S. Burgund (pictured), formerly of the 3,500 block of Aberdeen, was ordered held without bond after he allegedly went to the Donald E. Sandidge Law Enforcement Center in April of last year and told an officer he wanted to confess to molestation.

Shortly after he was taken into custody, he was charged with six counts of predatory sexual assault of a child.  He's suspected of assaulting a two-year-old and three-year-old.  The crimes allegedly began in June 2008 with one of the victims.  Both are said to be family members.  Another case has also begun with jury selection underway.  51-year-old Byron D. Skalisius of Troy, IL is facing 3 counts of Criminal Sexual Assault and one count of Unauthorized Video Recording for his 2009 assault on a female acquaintance.   Skalisius was indicted over two years ago.
