A change of venue has been granted to the defense in the upcoming trial of the Calhoun County Sheriff.  52 year old Bill Heffington of Batchtown is charged with official misconduct and disorderly conduct following an alleged incident during a meeting of the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners last July. The trial will now be held in Virginia, Illinois, a little more than an hour north of of Hardin in Cass County.

There has been no official disclosure of the exact nature of what took place during a closed session of the meeting on July 11, other than the official charges. Prosecutors have not released specific details of the incident after a grand jury returned the indictment in September. Heffington's attorney insists th eindictment has personal and political motivation behind it, saying Heffington is facing these charges for expressing an opinion.
