A local teacher will be going to court in the spring to face accusations of theft against a club at the school where he works. 44-year-old Timothy A. Reed of Jerseyville is accused of stealing more than $10,000 from the Future Farmers of America at Southwestern High School. Reed is the club sponsor.
Reed was charged two weeks ago with Felony Theft of Government Money Between $10,000 and $100,000. He entered a not-guilty plea last week, and waived a preliminary hearing. The pre-trial has been set for April 21. If it is determined at that time the case is ready, the trial will begin May 10. Reed has worked for the Southwestern School District for 16 years. He is currently on administrative leave pending a district investigation.
