A Bunker Hill man will be heading to prison soon, having entered a guilty plea in Jersey County to Aggravated Kidnapping. 36-year-old Jonathan Trexler was sentenced to 10 years with a 15 year enhancement since a dangerous weapon was used in the crime. He will have to serve at least 85% of the 25 year total.
In exchange for the plea, charges of Home Invasion and Aggravated Sexual Assault were dropped. Trexler is accused of kidnapping his estranged wife from their Jersey County home on April 6, taking her to a trailer in Calhoun County where he allegedly assaulted her. Police located the pair the next day and the woman was able to escape and Trexler was taken into custody following a brief standoff. Trexler pleaded guilty earlier this month to aggravated kidnapping and possession of a controlled substance in Calhoun County. Sentencing in Calhoun County is schedule for August 2. The Jersey County sentence will run concurrently with whatever sentence he receives in Calhoun County.
