A Bunker Hill man is due back in court on Monday after a criminal case against him was delayed a week. 36-year-old Jonathan Trexler is facing felony charges in Jersey and Calhoun counties related to the alleged kidnapping and assault of his estranged wife last month. He is due back in Jersey County Court on Monday.
Authorities say on April 6, Trexler kidnapped his estranged wife from her home in rural Jersey County. He later took her to a trailer in Calhoun County, but police caught up with him on April 7 and she was able to escape from the home. Police took Trexler into custody after a brief standoff. Trexler is charged in Jersey County with aggravated kidnapping, home invasion and aggravated criminal sexual abuse and bond has been set at $500,000. Calhoun County authorities also filed charges against him of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery and unlawful possession of a controlled substance with an additional bond of $500,000. Trexler remains in custody.
