The Illinois Department of Transportation is warning motorists of the potential for significant traffic delays over the next few weeks if they cross the Mississippi River at Alton. IDOT is continuing its Clark Bridge project, and after the first few weeks of work, crews shift to patching the pavement starting Monday.
Jim Cox, Resident Technician with IDOT, says everything has gone as planned so far, with good weather and no major delays. This phase will result in lane closures to make bridge deck repairs.

Other repairs include re-wrapping of the cables, and removal of graffiti. That work is scheduled through the end of July. Motorists are encouraged to make alternate travel plans through the duration of the project.
