The Marine-backed charity Toys for Tots is collecting money and toys for an ever increasing number of children.  Toys for Tots was started in 1947 by a retired Marine, and the group has carried on the tradition.  Several local Marines will be standing outside of the Wood River Wal-Mart beginning today to collect for the organization.

Local organizer Bill Carroll says they helped nearly 7,000 kids last year justr through the local arm of the organization, and 14,000 spanning the region.
