It's National Travel and Tourism Week, and members of the RiverBend community gathered at Argosy Casino Wednesday to hear of a new promotion from the state's tourism bureau. A recent report shows millions of dollars are not being spent because people are banking vacation days rather than spending them.
Alton Regional Convention and Visitor's Bureau President Brett Stawar tells The Big Z Madison, Jersey, and Calhoun Counties generate more than $440-million each year from tourism expenditures.

He says visitors continue to flock to area attractions, including about 5,600 people that participated in school trips last year. The CVB staff was dressed in Star Wars attire to mark the occasion of the event falling on May 4th, as in "May the 4th be with you."
