In O'Fallon, a toddler is dead after being left in a hot car for about two hours. Police say the father was drunk and passed out on the floor of his home. His son was discovered inside the sweltering car by his mother late Thursday afternoon. 32-year-old Wayne M. Hubert (pictured) is jailed on a quarter-million dollar bond, charged in the boy's death.
Hubert is charged with involuntary manslaughter, as well as endangering the life of a child. Both are class 2 felonies, punishable by up to 14 years in prison. The temperature outside was about 90-degrees, and experts say that even though one of the rear windows was slightly rolled down, the temperature inside could have risen to 120-degrees or more.
