It’s primary election day in Illinois with only a handful of contested races on ballots in the Riverbend. There’s a race for the Democratic nomination for Madison County Sheriff, there are candidates from both major parties for the Congressional seat in the 13th district, and there’s also a question for Madison County voters regarding how to pay for the updates to the Madison County Jail. Polls are open today from 6am until 7pm.
Also on the ballot today are the candidates for Illinois governor from both parties, with a four-person race for the Republican nomination. Candidates Kirk Dillard and Bruce Rauner both made stops in Madison County on Monday for a final push for votes. In Jersey County, the Republican nomination for sheriff is up for grabs, as are a few county board seats and Grafton voters are being asked about electric aggregation. The Big Z will have election results tonight every half hour with reports starting with our news at 6pm.
