Detectives from the East Alton Police Department are continuing to examine leads following an armed robbery on Saturday morning. Police say that two men entered the East Alton TitleMax loan office just after 10 a.m. and attacked a clerk with pepper spray before taking $1,500 in cash. The two then joined a third suspect who was waiting in a car in the parking lot. The vehicle is described as a silver, four-door, compact car with the body style of a Mazda or Toyota with Missouri license plates and was last seen heading southwest on West St. Louis Avenue toward Wood River.
Major Brian Archer of the East Alton Police Department says that the Missouri plates on the car are a reason he hasn't released a description of the suspects yet.
Once apprehended the suspects could each face the same armed robbery charge because pepper spray was used during the hold up. If you have any information you are asked to contact East Alton Police Department at 259-6212.
