Each year there about 80,000 farm related injuries across the country, many occurring during the fall harvest season.  Many of the injuries involve machinery, with arms and legs getting caught in the equipment, and tractors and wagons overturning and crushing farmers.

University of Illinois Extension Farm Safety Specialist Bob Aherin says farmers need to be particularly careful about letting kids out in the fields.

Aherin comments

Another concern is electrocution, with many types of farm equipment like tractors with front end loaders and portable grain augers having the potential to come into contact with overhead power lines.
