The Village of Godfrey continues to move forward with its plan to establish a TIF District, as it prepares for what is expected to be a business boom once Illinois 255 is completed. The Village Board has approved an ordinance to establish a Tax Increment Financing "Interested Parties" registry, and will soon adopt a pair of maps outlining the TIF and Business Districts.
Keith Moran of Moran Economic Development says the TIF District as it stands now will extend south along Godfrey Road and include the former Owens-Illinois property.
The next committee meeting will be held in conjunction with the next Village Board meeting on December 6. If a business owner is not included in the TIF District map but thinks it should be, a request must be made before that meeting. The business district will roughly mirror the TIF District.
