The Illinois Senate has passed a bill that would prohibit police departments from setting ticket quotas.  If this bill becomes law, there would be no more requiring officers to write a certain number of tickets per week or month.  Senator Andy Manar (D-Bunker Hill) says there are better ways to assess how well an officer is doing his or her job.

Departments also couldn't evaluate cops on their performance based on how many tickets they write.  The bill now moves on to the House for consideration.
