People who make a living by building and expanding transportation networks are hoping more state and federal money can be committed. The Transportation for Illinois Coalition is asking its constituents – local government, road builders, etc. – to complete a survey about local needs. Dave Kennedy, chairman of the coalition’s Statehouse Committee, says that will lead into a series of 20 meetings around the state after the New Year.
The meetings, he says, will “bring these respondents and anybody else who is interested in transportation to come forward and just talk about the issue. If you think about it, some communities are interested in public transportation, some communities have air service needs, some have water needs, some, obviously, have highway and bridge needs.”
