Caterpillar is packing up and heading out of two Illinois towns. Officials say they're relocating three of their production facilities to Michigan next year. That means about 170 people in Sterling and Dixon could either lose their jobs or relocate.
Company officials say combining the facilities will allow them to save money and work more efficiently.
Serving the areas of Alton, Godfrey, East Alton, Wood River, Roxana, Edwardsville, Jerseyville, Brighton, Bethalto, Grafton, Granite City, Hartford, Highland, Troy, Fairview Heights, Belleville and the surrounding cities.
