On Thursday, The Firehouse and Spirits Lounge, both on State Street had their liquor licenses suspended. CTW's license is suspended for ten days. It began at 12:01pm yesterday, and runs until 11:59am on Monday, June 18.
The owner of CTW's will also pay a $500 fine. This is the second liquor license suspension in 19 months for the bar. In November of 2010, the bar had its license suspended for one day, and was fined $500. While the bar agreed to hire extra security and had posted "No Loitering" signs, the police calls continued, including fights, mob action and shootings. In addition to the penalties dished out by the city, the owners agreed to meet with police on a weekly basis about safety concerns, hire more security officers, and provide Alton police a list of people whom have been barred from the property.
