A local theater company is looking to the community for input on its future and it hopes that includes a major expansion of its facilities. Alton Little Theater has contracted with professional consultants to undertake a feasibility study that could lead to a capital campaign for a new 350-seat auditorium and state-of-the-art theater.
Questionnaires are being sent out to some members of the River Bend to gauge the interest and need for improved facilities because ALT Public Relations Coordinator Lee Cox says they've done about as much as they can in their current building:
Cox says the consultants will conduct interviews, then bring their findings back to the board. She is hopeful that a new theater will open by 2015, and the current theater building can then be refurbished for use by outside groups as well as by ALT. The estimated cost of the project is $2.5 million.
