The Verizon and Pizza World stores at Godfrey's Monticello Plaza closed recently, but the village's mayor says there's reason to get excited.  At least one new tenant is expected to sign a lease for the outbuilding that is now vacant, and a beauty salon is also planned for the strip mall in the coming months.

Mike McCormick tells The Big Z he had a conversation with the plaza owners this week, and they say the clothing store Factory Connection is doing great business.

Ruler has been open in that location less than a year, taking over part of the space that used to be the site of Park-N-Shop Grocery.  Midwest Asset Group bought Monticello Plaza in 2011.
