Illinois Republicans sense momentum for term limits. State Rep. Ron Sandack (R-Downers Grove) is running a bill – a proposed constitutional amendment – to limit service in each chamber of the General Assembly to 10 years and as a statewide constitutional officer to eight years. “The governor was a big proponent of the concept,” says Sandack, referring to Gov. Bruce Rauner’s unsuccessful campaign for a term limit amendment, “and while I am under no illusions this proposal will move in the House and Senate, it is moving in the court of public opinion.”

Sandack says if George Washington can term-limit himself, anybody can, and everybody should.
So when is Sandack going to quit? “I’m in my second term, so I’m not going to be in the House 10 years. I’m going to move on, up, or out – in some way, shape, or form.”
