The national “Teens for Jeans” campaign is underway, and locally Alton Middle School is collecting the denim for donation. The program encourages young people across the country to run a jeans drive in their school or community to help provide clothing for youth experiencing homelessness.
Krista Ginestra is a 7th grade science teacher, and is organizing the event at the school. She tells The Big Z the concept is part of a national campaign sponsored by Aéropostale and DoSomething.org.

Over a million young people experience homelessness in the United States every year, and one of the most requested items that young people in homeless shelters ask for is a pair of jeans.
