Kids under 18 are being banned from using tanning beds in Illinois. Studies show that kids are at a 75-percent higher risk of getting skin cancer when they’re exposed to the artificial rays. Still, some parents think government is overstepping its boundaries by keeping kids out, saying that’s a decision that’s best left up to the parent.
Republican State Senator Christine Radogno says the ban will keep kids from developing cancer. The new law kicks in January 1st. Teens will still be allowed to get a spray-tan.
