A south St. Louis County teen has been charged in the shooting death of police officer Blake Snyder on Thursday. 18 year old Trenton Forster was charged yesterday with first degree murder and will be held on a $1-million cash only bond upon his release from a hospital. He was shot by another officer after Officer Snyder was killed.
Authorities say Snyder and another officer were responding in separate patrol cars to the Green Park area in south St. Louis County to the report of a disturbance just after 5am Thursday. Witnesses had reported a young man who was banging on the door of a house demanding to be allowed entry. Snyder saw Forster sitting in a car by himself and ordered him out of the vehicle and to show his hands. Police say Forster exited the car, pulled a gun and fired a shot at point blank range killing Officer Snyder. The second officer on the scene fired his weapon several times striking Forster, who remains hospitalized in stable condition and is expected to survive. The incident remains under investigation and St. Louis County prosecutors say additional charges could be filed in the case.
