Representatives from school districts throughout the area will visit East Alton-Wood River High School Tuesday for a special technology showcase. The school was selected to show off it's 1:1 Google Chromebook program earlier this year by the Madison County Steering Committee and tomorrow's meeting will include discussion and classroom visitation of teachers and students using the program.

East Alton-Wood River High School Principal Leigh Robinson says the 1:1 program was adopted by the school board to increase student engagement and that devices are an important part of the curriculum.

Robinson says that the district looked at several options but ruled out Apple products because of their price. She estimates that they are able to purchase each Chromebook for $270 which results in a substantial savings when compared to what it would have cost for Apple devices.

Tomorrow's showcase will take place in the EAWR Library in the main building at 9 a.m. For more information contact Principal Robinson at 254-3151 ext 2522 or Educational Technology Director Gerry Mattix-Wand at 791-6111.
