The teacher’s strike continues in the East St. Louis School District. Students have now missed 8 school days due to the walkout over wages. The teacher’s union and the district are scheduled to meet face-to-face on Wednesday in an attempt to find a compromise.
The strike began on October 1, after the union rejected an offer by the district that had the tentative approval of the school board and union negotiating team. Since then, teachers have been on the picket lines and students have been at home. The two sides are scheduled to meet with a federal mediator tomorrow.
