The Roxana School District and the Roxana Education Association have apparently settled a contract dispute with approval of the most recent contract offer by the union. The Roxana School Board followed suit with a unanimous vote in favor of the pact during its meeting last night, meaning teachers will see a pay increase over the next two years.
The first year base pay increase will be 1.75 percent, with a hike of 2.5 percent in base pay in the second year. There is a chance for additional pay with step increases depending on experience. Teachers will also see 100-percent of their health costs covered in the first year of the contract, with the district covering up to an additional 5-percent increase in premiums in the second year. Both pay and language will be re-opened in the contract when it expires in the summer of 2014.
