The Madison County Treasurer's Office mails out 130,000 tax bills each year. Of those, a small portion does not get paid, and are up for sale in February of the following year. This year's tax sale was held earlier this week, and resulted in a weighted average interest rate of 1.89% - the fifth year in a row interest rates have checked in below 4%.
This year’s tax sale resulted in the sale of more than $4-million in taxes. Treasurer Kurt Prenzler tells The Big Z not all parcels’ taxes are sold.
