With a new governor ready to deliver his State of the State Address tomorrow, we may find out if there will be a shift in priorities for funding its various programs. What that means for Madison County and its effort to promote the area is uncertain, according to the head of the county’s Sustainability Department.
Leah Dettmers tells The Big Z the programs the county has been working on over the last several years has made the region an attractive place to settle down.

She says as of now there are no plans for countywide recycling drives or a solid waste collection. The state usually funds those efforts, so it will be a wait and see funding proposition as priorities at the state level are set.
