Investigators say a suspicious package found this morning outside the Downtown Edwardsville Post Office did not appear to have anything harmful inside. The package was reported just after 9:30am, and Edwardsville Police immediately blocked off the roadway in front of the building.
The street was reopened by mid-afternoon after the Secretary of State Bomb Squad and the ATF examined the package and decided it did not pose a threat. The package contained a Cisco Gain Maker, a broad band amplifier. It was considered suspicious because there were no mailing labels or addresses on the box. The investigation will now turn to trying to find out who placed it there and why.
