One Alton resident has pleaded guilty for his role in the robbery of a Comfort Cab driver last July. 30-year-old Ramone C. Cunningham of the 100 block of Tara Court in Alton entered the plea to a federal charge of aiding and abetting armed robbery in U.S. District Court this week. He could face 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
Investigators say he and 27-year-old Taylor C. Harkey of the 400 block of Alice Lane in Godfrey were looking for a way to get some “quick money” when they hatched the plan to rob a cab driver on July 18 of 2013. Acting together, the pair used a number of different phones to summon a cab to a vacant house in Alton where Harkey allegedly pointed a BB gun that Cunningham had provided at the cab driver. They made off with $36 and the cab driver’s phone. Cunningham will be sentenced on May 22, while Harkey’s case is still pending.
