ElledgeWood River Police have released more details of an incident involving gunfire in the city earlier this month.  Charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm against 20-year-old Daniel Elledge of the 200 block of East Acton were first reported yesterday on The Big Z, and apparently involved a brief standoff.

In a news release, Deputy Police Chief Dan Bunt says officers were called to the Acton Street residence around 11:30pm on January 11th to investigate a domestic disturbance.  A woman at the apartment said her son, Elledge, battered her and then locked himself in the apartment and was armed.  She told police she feared he was suicidal.  Officers attempted to verbally contact the suspect, who then yelled at the officers and fired a gunshot through the door.  No one was injured.  Police say after a short time, Elledge exited the apartment and was taken into custody.  He was admitted to a local hospital for treatment.  Elledge was formally charged on Tuesday and taken into custody at his residence and is being held in the Madison County Jail.
