The survivor of three homicide victims applauds several measures to reform current law dealing with life sentences without parole for juveniles. During a news conference late last week with juvenile justice reform advocates, Jeanne Bishop said a minor murdered two of her relatives and their unborn child.
Despite that, Bishop says the current law keeping minors locked up without parole is merciless.

Other advocates say the measures, if passed, would help cut down on correctional costs by diverting minors out of prison. The advocates, Restore Justice Illinois, says there are hundreds of cases where individuals convicted as minors are serving life without parole or sentences of over forty years.
