Police are holding special seat belt enforcement details through the Super Bowl weekend.  Alton Police intend to help keep motorists safe over the weekend, and are teaming up with state police and IDOT to make sure everyone is buckled up.

Alton Police Public Information Officer Emily Hejna says Super Bowl Weekend can be just as dangerous as any of the other “party weekends.”

She says you need to take any means necessary to get home safely.  Those could include calling a taxi, a sober friend or family member, or using mass transit; reporting drunk drivers to law enforcement; spending the night where you are and sleeping off the effects of the alcohol; and buckling up.
