The Nature Institute is undergoing a bit of a change, in the name of progress and safety. The driveway leading to the Talahi Lodge is being paved, which will cut down on much of the dust and other hazards that come with a heavily-traveled unpaved road. TNI Educator Patti Brown says it is a change that some of their users requested.
The Nature Institute was founded in 1980, but can trace its roots back at least 85 years when the Talahi Lodge was being used as a residential YWCA summer camp. Industrialist and entrepreneur John M. Olin donated much of the land at the nature preserve.
