The economic impact of the Route 3 corridor stretching from Alton to Columbia is huge, according to a recent study.  The total direct and indirect annual impact is in excess of $20-billion, supporting 215,000 jobs and over $9-billion in payroll, according to the report released by the Leadership Council Southwestern Illinois and the Heartlands Conservancy.

Leadership Council Southwestern Illinois Executive Director Ellen Krohne says the study shows there are many signs of growth.

Krohne comments

Route 3 runs through the cities of Wood River, Granite City, East St. Louis, Sauget and Dupo.
