The Alton/Godfrey Rotary Club recently honored two more students as the February Students of the month. Alton High's Evan Buenger and Marquette Catholic High School's Georgia Horn received their awards at the monthly Rotary meeting last Monday night.
Evan Buenger is the son of Wyndell and Cynthia Buenger of Godfrey. He ranks in the top 10-percent of his class and has been a member of the Student Council for three years. He has also served as a member of the National Honor Society, Scholar Bowl team and has earned the rank of Colonel in the school's Air Force Junior ROTC program. After graduation, he plans to attend college and major in economics, however he has not decided where he will attend school.
Georgia Horn is the daughter of Matt and Laurie Horn of Godfrey. She has earned a place on the school's honor role throughout her attendance at Marquette. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Students Against Destructive Decisions. In addition to those organizations, Horn is also a tri-athlete, playing soccer, basketball and volleyball for Marquette. She plans to attend the University of Illinois and major in nursing.
Students selected for this honor are also eligible to compete for a $5,000 scholarship which will be presented to one of the students selected as "Student of the Month" later this year.
Serving the areas of Alton, Godfrey, East Alton, Wood River, Roxana, Edwardsville, Jerseyville, Brighton, Bethalto, Grafton, Granite City, Hartford, Highland, Troy, Fairview Heights, Belleville and the surrounding cities.
