Students at Alton High School were evacuated for a little over a half-hour this afternoon. A school district spokesman says a threatening mesage was found written on a wall, and as a precaution, the students were taken outside. The writing was discovered just before 1:30pm.
As a result of the message, the students were taken outside, the Madison County Sheriff's Department was notified, and traffic was not allowed on or off campus for a brief period of time. The all-clear was given just after 2pm, and students returned to the building. There is no word on any suspects at this time, but students who write threatening notes in the past have been dealt with harshly, both through the school district and the Madison County courts.
