Plans for teachers to go on strike as early as next week have been put on hold following a lengthy meeting between district officials and the Roxana Education Association earlier this week. The Roxana Board of Education and REA spent several hours in executive session Thursday and came away with an agreement to resume negotiations without a mediator, ending the talk of a potential strike for the time being.

The REA rejected the most recent offer on March 13 citing concerns over compensation and language in the proposed contract. Negotiations are expected to resume in the coming weeks.
