Strange lights were spotted in the sky over Hecker Tuesday night. Hecker is located about halfway between Waterloo and New Athens where Illinois Routes 159 and 156 intersect One resident called police after seeing an unidentified object sitting on the horizon. It sat stationary and appeared to change colors - from orange, red, blue, and green.
The "Monroe County Independent" reports deputies from Monroe and St. Clair counties responded to the sighting, saw the strange lights, but didn't do anything because the lights didn't pose any danger. Officials at Scott Air Force Base said they did not have any aircraft in the area when the sighting occurred.
