Two rounds of storms pounded the Riverbend on Monday and this morning with heavy rain and wind, leading to power outages and plenty of water in the streets and back yards. There were several reports of downed tree limbs, including one large tree that crashed through a mobile home in Godfrey yesterday afternoon.
The Godfrey Fire Protection District, Madison County Sheriff’s Department and Lifestar EMS were called to the Oak Grove Trailer Park around 3:15pm after a tree smashed through a mobile home. Emergency responders thankfully found no one inside the structure and no other injuries were reported. Elsewhere, there were reports of downed tree limbs in Alton and Godfrey during the first round of storms, along with several hundred power outages in parts of Bond, Madison and Jersey Counties. There were more storm warnings early this morning, but the biggest concern was more heavy rainfall. Ameren reports less than 100 power outages in the Riverbend this morning.
