The Godfrey Village Board is still considering adopting an occupancy permit ordinance, but the issue has been sent back to the Planning and Zoning Commission. The village is the only community in the Riverbend without some sort of occupancy permit procedure on the books, but the one that was ready for village board approval raised some concerns within the local realtor community.
Kyle Anderson is the Government Affairs Director of the Greater Gateway Association of Realtors.
Another realtor at the meeting had concerns over a number of suggestions that were made at a town hall meeting that he says never made it into the ordinance. The Planning and Zoning Commission will meet again on December 11 at the town hall. In other village business, no action was taken on what some consider to be excessive noise coming from motorcycles. After some discussion at Monday's Public Safety Committee meeting, the trustees agreed to study the issue further before making any decisions. And it was announced Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick is at home and doing well following open heart surgery last week.
