The tornado that tore through mostly rural parts of Carrollton last weekend serves as an opportunity for a local weather expert to remind you to stay alert when the weather has the potential to turn rough.  In this most recent case the National Weather Service did not issue a warning, as the Doppler radar did not indicate anything out of the ordinary about the storm.

John Nell, Skywarn Facilitator at Lewis & Clark Community College, tells The Big Z the radar has its limitations.

Nell says you should try to make sure everyone knows where to go if there is a severe thunderstorm or tornado in the area, whether it be in you basement, a bathroom with no windows, or under a heavy piece of furniture.
