Organizers of a statewide trip to showcase the viability of electric cars are gearing up for tomorrow's launch. The eleven-college consortium, known as the Illinois Green Economy Network, is hosting the event as a way to showcase renewable energy in Illinois according to Director of Sustainability at Lewis and Clark Community College, Nate Keener.

Keener says that Lewis and Clark will host a wrap up event to end the first day of the trip. The free event will be held at 4 p.m. and include light refreshments and information on electric vehicles. L&C’s portion of the trip will kick off the second day of the showcase and include a stop in Springfield on the way to Heartland Community College in Bloomington.
