Two state reps want to give drivers a break at the gas pump.  Democrats Sue Scherer and Jack Franks have introduced a bill that would get rid of the six-and-a-quarter percent sales tax in Illinois.   The bill still needs to clear both the House and Senate and if it’s approved, the tax will be eliminated starting next July.

Sue Hofer, with the state’s Department of Revenue, tells the “Springfield State-Journal Register” that the gas tax added 779-million dollars into the state coffers during the last fiscal year.
