The Illinois Department of Revenue has begun processing individual income tax returns.  Revenue spokesman Terry Horstman says they took a little extra time this year, safeguarding the state's system to prevent fraud.

He says they are now processing returns filed through tax preparers and tax software, and will soon start accepting returns filed via their own free filing system.
