More than 350 applications were submitted to Illinois from businesses hoping to set up as medical marijuana growers and dispensaries. It was quite a turnout, says medical cannabis program coordinator Bob Morgan, from those seeking to be licensed as one of 22 cultivation centers or 60 dispensaries.
He says the state will now carefully review several factors.

Morgan says they hope to issue the licenses by the end of the year. There has been interest in establishing in grow facilities locally in Wood River and Jersey County. The state is still collecting applications from patients wishing to take advantage of medical marijuana once it's available.
