The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has closed its office in Alton.  The move is part of a cost cutting measure for the department as it was leasing the space on Alton Commerce Parkway, just off Fosterburg Road.  The ten employees were assigned to other IDNR offices.

The lease on the office space expired at the end of July and will save the department just over $106-thousand annually. The employees were assigned to IDNR offices at Pere Marquette State Park, Beaver Dam State Park and Frank Holten State Park.   The Pere Marquette office will continue to serve the Riverbend area.
