The plans to keep the Rams or in the very least an NFL franchise in St. Louis took a major step forward Friday afternoon as the taskforce appointed by Missouri Governor Jay Nixon presented plans for an open-air stadium on the St. Louis Riverfront. The proposed project includes the construction of a 64,000 seat, mixed-use stadium that would accomodate the needs of an NFL franchise and also be used to host soccer events, potentially attracting an MLS franchise to St. Louis.

The plan also calls for additional renovations to the Edward Jones Dome and other work around the proposed stadium site. The total cost of the project is estimated to be between $860-million and $985-millon, which would be financed by both private investments and public funding.
