The state of Illinois is continuing to invest in its’ airports. Governor Pat Quinn announced investments totaling $9.4-million for construction projects at Illinois’ airports last week. St. Louis Regional Airport in Bethalto will be receiving a portion of that funding to put towards work on Runway 35. Airport Manager David Miller says grading and drainage work is needed to bring the runway in line with FAA safety standards that were not met when earlier work on the runway was completed.

Miller says the $286,000 project will be handled by G.L. Warren Construction of Edwardsville, who submitted the lowest bid for the project. He also adds that this is just one of many projects that the airport will be addressing as officials continue to update their capital improvement plan in the coming weeks and months.
